The Digital Owner

For people building real businesses online

This page explains how The Digital Owner researches, writes and corrects its work.

Our standards

Every fact has a source. Statistics, dates, quotes and claims about real people or companies come from published sources. We link to them at the end of each article.

We do not invent anything. We do not create fictional people, composite case studies, made-up quotes or estimated figures presented as fact. Founder stories cover real people whose experiences have been publicly reported, and we cite where that reporting came from.

We prefer primary sources. Where possible we cite the original research, regulator, company filing or first-hand account rather than a summary of it.

We label forecasts as forecasts. When a figure is a projection, we say so.

We do not promise results. Building a business involves risk, cost and effort. Nothing we publish is a guarantee of income.

Independence

Our editorial decisions are made separately from any commercial relationship. Advertisers and affiliate partners do not review, approve or change our articles before publication. Sponsored content is always labeled. See our Advertising Disclosure.

Use of AI

We may use AI tools to help with research, drafting or editing. A person reviews every article before it is published, checks the sources, and is responsible for what we publish. We do not use AI to create fake people, reviews or testimonials. If an image on the site is AI-generated and could be mistaken for a real photograph of a real event or person, we label it.

Not professional advice

Our content is general information. It is not legal, tax, financial or investment advice. For decisions specific to you, speak to a qualified professional.

Corrections

If we get something wrong, we fix it. Significant corrections are noted at the end of the article with the date of the change. To report an error, email hello@thedigitalowner.com with the article link and the issue.

Updates

Articles on fast-moving topics, such as regulation and platform policies, are reviewed periodically. The date of the most recent review is shown on the article.
